“This is the first story I have written since I left school in the 1960’s!”
In July last year, myself, Ephraim Omulepu and Leo Wallentin organized a writing workshop with members in Men for Gender Equality Now (MEGEN Kenya). As the facilitators, we wanted to encourage the activists to reflect on and write down their personal experiences as men and women who are challenging the current gender norms in their local contexts, actively working to stop gender-based violence, and influencing others to change through campaigns, sensitization, one-on-one dialogue and outreach through drama.

During the 16 days of Activism on Gender Violence, 114 gender activists from Kenya, Malawi, Zambia and Uganda, the majority of them men, travelled remote areas of Kenya by bus, urging people from all walks of life to take action on gender violence.
